Facility
Sharjah Surgical Institute is a state-of-the-art facility; the center was inaugurated on the 29th of May 2010 as a center of excellence in clinical and surgical training and is equipped with top quality laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery facilities that use animal, dry lab and virtual reality platforms.
From wet laboratories using cadavers and animals to Dry laboratories, simulation wards, classrooms and auditorium the Sharjah Surgical Institute serves the needs of most medical professionals in the region.
Since its inauguration in May 2010 the center has conducted almost 900 surgical and Clinical training courses involving more than 11,000 doctors, nurses and other health professionals from UAE, GCC, Middle East, India and Pakistan as well as some African Countries. About 50% of these courses were surgical/ orthopedic courses.
The Sharjah Surgical Instittute occupies the bottom Floor of Building M31 at the campus of the University of Sharjah Medical Excellence Cluster right by the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences and the Sharjah University Research Institute. The facility is built over 3000 square meters and includes:

  • 12 consultation simulated clinics, with cameras linked to control rooms contributing to the training of health care professionals through creating a virtual reality environment.
  • 2 simulated wards accommodating eight work stations
  • 2 Dry laboratories accommodating fourteen work stations
  • 1 Wet laboratory accommodating four Operating Room work stations
  • 1 Cadaver wet laboratory accommodating seven work stations
  • 3 lecture halls and 6 tutorial rooms with 15, 40, 60, a 100 and 120 seating capacities, with flexibility in layout to suit each group's needs and requirements.
  • Access to auditorium with 900 seats with advanced audio-visual facilities.​
